Let's talk books for a minute. Have you heard of the book series the Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearson? Book 1 was published in 2005. My son was only 1, and I admit I didn't learn about these books until around 2009. At which time I devoured every book that was published at that time!
There are 7 main books in the series, 2 novellas, and 3 books in a sequel trilogy called "The Return". I have to admit life has been busy and I'm still working my way through the sequel trilogy, but not for lack of wanting to get them read!
What are they? They are young adult novels that highlight adventures of a group of teenagers that were hired to become Guide Holograms for Disney World. A "glitch" in the system allows them to see a part of Disney that no one else can! And what happens from there is a series of books that takes them on a journey from Park to Park!
What I love most about these books was re-living the Parks through reading the books. As they move from one area to another I really enjoyed remembering the times I was at each place they were referring to. I also truly love the creativity of these books. Who doesn't want to imagine that when the lights go down, the Magic comes to life!
When my daughter was around 11 she started reading them as well, which meant I started reading them a second time around. She gives them 5 stars as well! I would say that an advanced reader of around 11-12 could handle these books. As the books progress, the young adults do age, and with that comes the basic romantic storytelling of middle school books. So parental warning here - some kissing involved!
All in all, I give these books a total 5 out of 5! And with it, a small push to get me to finish those last books before our next trip to Disneyland!
